Are You Ready For Summer?

Are you ready for summer??😎☀️ have you thought about how to protect your eyes while enjoying the sun, sand, water, and everything else you enjoy in these beautiful months?
To keep your eyes healthy during the summer, prioritize protecting them from the sun’s UV rays, staying hydrated, and practicing good hygiene. Wear sunglasses with 100% UV protection. Wearing hats in addition to sunglasses can provide extra shade.
When swimming, use swim goggles to protect your eyes from bacteria and debris. Avoid rubbing your eyes and consider using lubricating eye drops to combat dryness. For sports and yard work, protective eye wear go a long way in preventing injuries, irritations, and infections.
IF YOU ARE A CONTACT LENS WEARER- making sure to not wear your contacts in water where harmful bacteria and micro-organisms could get trapped between your eye and your contact. ALWAYS maintain proper hygiene and wear schedule as instructed by your eye doctor. Also, make sure you have plenty of contact lenses and backup glasses so you’re not stuck in a bad position!

  • Protect Your Eyes During Summer Activities:
    • Swimming: Wear swim goggles to protect your eyes from bacteria, chemicals, and debris in the water.
    • Sports: Choose appropriate eye protection for the sport you’re participating in.
    • Yard Work: Wear protective eyewear when working with potentially hazardous chemicals or debris.
  • Manage Screen Time: Spending extended periods on screens can strain your eyes.
    • Take Breaks: Follow the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds.
    • Adjust Brightness: Adjust your screen’s brightness to a comfortable level.
  • Be Mindful of Allergens: Summer can bring about increased allergy symptoms, which can cause itchy, watery eyes.
    • Avoid Rubbing: Avoid rubbing your eyes, as this can exacerbate irritation and spread allergens.
    • Use Allergy Drops: If you have allergies, consider using over-the-counter allergy eye drops to relieve discomfort.
